ACCESSIBILITY COMMITMENT

We welcome people living with disability to enjoy our facilities. 

We want everyone who visits Bluewater Leisure Centre to feel welcome and find their visit rewarding and fulfilling.
Our facility is designed to give people with a disability or mobility-related issues greater access to aquatic, fitness and recreation facilities.

 

At Bluewater we have;

  • Ramp entry to access the facility

  • Ramp entry access to main pools

  • Accessible change rooms and toilets

  • Accessible (Disabled) car parking at front of building and in car parks

  • Drop off/ Pick up point located at front of building

  • Swimming lessons with Access and Inclusion qualified teachers

  • Multi-use warm water pool with ramp access for gentle rehabilitation and exercise

  • 25 metre pool with ramp access for lap swimming

  • Wheelchair accessible to all parts of the facility

  • Accessible change rooms with height adjustable adult change table

  • Automatic hoists located in accessible bathrooms

  • Accessible gym equipment, including Upperbody Krank Cycle

 

MLAK Bathroom Access

Our facility features an MLAK-secured bathroom, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all visitors. MLAK (Master Locksmiths Access Key) is a trusted key system used across many public venues, providing secure and convenient access. To use the MLAK bathroom, visitors can request the lifeguard unlock the bathroom
The Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) system provides people with disability access to dedicated public facilities, including National Parks, council facilities, railway station lifts, Changing Places facilities, locked accessible toilets and Liberty Swings.

People with a disability are able to purchase an MLAK key that will open all doors, toilets, playground equipment and other facilities fitted with a lock that uses the special MLAK cylinder.

Before ordering your key, you must complete the application form from Master Locksmiths Association of Australasia Limited - MLAK

 This system helps us maintain high standards of hygiene and security for everyone.

 

Sensory Quiet Time

We also offer a Sensory Quiet Time

Every Saturday 1:00pm - 3:00pm 

  • Pool deck lights dimmed

  • Hand and hair dryers turned off

  • No radio or music playing

  • Play-park will remain off

  • Mobile phones on silent

  • All loud noises kept to a minimum
